Who dares..wins
It was love at first sight: Kristine T. left her homeland Latvia and followed her longing for the sun and the sea. In Cascais, Portugal, she found it all ..and a little bit more..
(Picture text: From the student for interior design in Latvia to a successful nail designer in Portugal. K.T. has built her self a new livelihood in the Portuguese town of Cascais.)
Anyone who goes travelling has stories to tell….K.T. went on her first holiday to Portugal and fell in love with the place – so she stayed. In Cascais, a small touristic town, 30 km outside of Lisbon the native Latvian found a new home, a new profession. ‘I worked as a babysitter and in night clubs until I decided to a course in nail gel technique. That was the beginning of my carrier ‘ she remembers. Nail technique and eyelash extension are since then the métier of the 27 year old. To be precise, K.T. is owner of a studio and founder of her own brand for eyelash extensions ‘Kristine Lux’. A dream carrier in just 6 years. TV stars and artist are among her clients. But also the less famous clients from the upper middle class confirm that the stylist is one of Portugal’s best in her profession. Not for nothing Kristine trained with the best in Portugal, Latvia, England and The Netherlands.
Her youngest client is 18, her eldest 82, they all appreciate the quiet ambience in her 100m2 ‘Studio Lux’ with two areas, for nails and eyelashes as well as a cabin for spa treatments. While Kristine loves her nails eye catching designed, ‘I like to be different..’ she smiles, her clients prefer it classic and mainly French manicure. ‘Portuguese women love well maintained nails with little design. But sometimes they allow a pretty design. ‘
Convinced by Quality
Nail design in Portugal started about 15 years ago. So far Nail studios are the exception and the offer is mainly included in cosmetic salons or in nail boots in shopping centers. K.T. convinces through quality that her faithful clients gladly pay for. A set of Gel Nails costs 58 Euros, the eyelash extension between 95 and 120 Euros
Her next step is to extend her offer with her own Franchise for hair extensions in Portugal. Asking her for her motivation she simply replies: ‘to own a studio is not a job, it’s a life style. Its my life!
